This city is an outstanding example of the fusion of Lao traditional architecture and its urban structure built by the European colonial authorities. DAY 1: ARRIVE VIENTIANE
Meet upon arrival at Wattai airport, transfer to your hotel for check-in.. In the afternoon, visit Vat Sisaket, the only original temple in Vientiane (built in 1818 – it is the sole survivor of a Thai invasion in 1828), the Ho Phrakeo, the former Royal Chapel where an Emerald Buddha dating back to the time of the Lane Xang Kingdom was enshrined, the Patuxai Victory Monument and That Luang stupa, the symbol of Laos.
DAY 4: LUANG PRABANG
After breakfast, excursion by car to the picturesque Khouang Sy waterfall nestled in lush tropical forest. On the way, visit some hill tribe villages such as the H’Mong village of Ban Thinkeo, the Khmu village of Ban Thapaene and the Lao Loum village of Ban Xom, known for its cotton production. Return to Luang Prabang and stroll through the Ethnic H’Mong market before climbing Phousi Hill to enjoy sunset over the former Royal capital and the MekongRiver.
DAY 5: LUANG PRABANG – VIENTIANE
After breakfast, time at leisure till transfer to the airport to take your flight to Vientiane. On arrival transfer to your hotel for check-in. Visit NationalMuseum, formerly known as the Laos Revolutionary Museum, this museum contains artifacts and photos from the Pathet Lao’s (PL) lengthy struggle for power. Many of the displays consist of historic weaponry. The more interesting items include several Khmer sandstone sculptures of Hindu deities and a display of traditional musical instruments. Inner rooms are dedicated to the 1893-1945 French colonial period, the 1945-54 struggle for independence, the 1954-63 resistance to American imperialism, the 1964-69 provisional government and the 1975 communist victory.
Then visit Kaysone Phomvihane Memorial & Museum,This museum contains pictures of Laos’s most important cultural and historic sites. Another contains a mock-up of Kaysone’s childhood. Other exhibits of historic photography and minor artifacts chronicle the founding of the Lao Issara and the Indochinese Communist Party.
DAY 2: VIENTIANE – LUANG PRABANG
After breakfast, transfer to the airport to take your flight to Luang Prabang. Meet upon arrival at the airport, transfer to your hotel for check-in.. In the afternoon, visit the National Museum (formerly the RoyalPalace) with its collection of personal artifacts of the Lao Royal Family. Continue to nearby Vat Mai Temple, which was the residence of a Buddhist patriarch before 1975. Then enjoy the sunset along the Mekong River at Vat Prabath Tai.
DAY 3: LUANG PRABANG
After breakfast, take a traditional riverboat for a 2-hour cruise up the Mekong River to Pak Ou, at the confluence of the Nam Ou and Mekong River, to visit the sacred caves of Tham Ting and Tham Phoum, home to hundreds of Buddha statues. On the way, visit Xang Hai village where sticky rice wine is distilled. Return to Luang Prabang and continue by road to Ban Xang Khong weaving village where traditional mulberry leaf paper is also produced.
DAY 6: DEPART VIENTIANE
After breakfast, free time until transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
